On a bright summer day in early September, Chelsea and Kevin explored one of our favourite places in Algonquin Park on their elopement day. The High Falls area is at the very south end of the park. It’s not as busy as the main Highway 60 corridor that includes the more popular trails like the Algonquin Lookout Trail, Whiskey Rapids Trail, The Lake of Two Rivers and Booth’s Rock.
The High Falls Trail in Algonquin Park
Jason and I love this area because you’re deep in the forest and it feels like you’ve landed in a mystical and magical forested wonderland. After passing cute mushrooms, moss and ancient towering trees there’s a gorgeous swimming spot where you can chill and enjoy a picnic. Plus, there’s the High Falls waterfall and a natural waterslide to play in! It’s such a cool spot with many different locations in one area to explore!
Lord of the Rings and Magical Forests
Chelsea and Kevin wanted to have a very relaxed day in the forest so we planned most of the day outside in nature. They are big Lord of the Rings fans and this was the perfect spot that came to mind while we were planning their day. It matched their vibe perfectly!!!
Getting Ready Together
We began their elopement day at their cute Airbnb in Harcourt. After capturing some getting ready moments, they had the sweetest first look in front of the wood sauna.
Kayaking Along the Barron River
We then drove to the Deep Roots Adventure where they rented a kayak that we reserved in advance. They enjoyed a gorgeous kayak ride along the Barron River. After a romantic paddle, they wanted to go on a short, accessible and leisurely hike along the High Falls Trail. We had such a lovely time hiking before arriving at their ceremony location beside the waterfall.
High Falls Waterslide and Waterfall
When we reached the waterfall no one was around, it was absolutely stunning! They exchanged private vows, rings and a passionate kiss before celebrating with some cupcakes by a wildly epic looking tree!!
Haliburton Highlands
After enjoying their peanut free cupcakes, they wanted to continue exploring the area so that’s exactly what we did! They had their first dance on the trail as well, it was so much fun!!
Harcourt Airbnb Catered Dinner
After their adventure, we headed back to their Airbnb where they had a catered dinner waiting for them. The lovely AM/PM Outdoor Gourmet Snack Shack put together a super cute charcuterie picnic style meal. It included their favourite foods which they enjoyed on the porch of their Airbnb as the sunset. Before enjoying their meal a champagne pop was an absolute must!!!
Algonquin Park, Blue Hour & Champagne
We concluded the day with some final photos and video during blue hour. It was such a beautiful day and we had the best time ever!! We’ll truly cherish this day & their love story. It’s truly so special that we co created their Algonquin elopement dreams !
