Sustainable Alberta Wedding Venues

01. Woodland Wildflower Weddings – Westlock County

Woodland Wildflower Weddings is a privately owned 144-acre property complete with cabins and camping spots. The venue specializes in eco-conscious camping weddings! Woodland Wildflower Weddings incorporates sustainable elements such as responsibly sourced wildflowers, grasses, and freshly picked blooms from on-site gardens. Additionally, their bar features eco-friendly, compostable cups to help reduce wedding waste. 

02. The Valley Weddings – Westerose

The Valley Weddings is family-built and intentionally crafted with its natural forest surroundings in mind. The venue offers an outdoor ceremony site, reception venue, bar, food service building, bridal suite, and private parking. The highlight of The Valley is its reception venue, a clear—roofed timber structure designed to provide an immersive forest experience from all views.

03. The Gathered – Airdrie

The Gathered is a breathtaking garden venue and gathering place that values community, family, memories, and moments. The venue grows nearly two acres of vegetables, which they use in their in-house garden-to-table catering. Apart from its beautiful gardens, the venue also offers a bridal cottage and a clear-top tent.

04. Banff Norquay

The Banff Norquay is home to three incredible ceremony sites. Those sites include The Cascade Lodge Patio, The Lone Pine Lawn, and The Cascade Lodge. Sitting atop Mt. Norquay Ski Resort, Banff Norquay offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. It’s a serene and nature-centered setting for wedding celebrations, especially perfect for those who love skiing and the outdoors. 

05. Tunnel Mountain Reservoir – Banff

Tunnel Mountain Reservoir is located in the town of Banff and offers incredible views of the Canadian Rockies. Bookings are only available for Tunnel Mountain Reservoir from June 1 to November 30 and can be done online. Paired with local, eco-friendly vendors, a ceremony at Tunnel Mountain Reservoir is one of the most sustainable Alberta wedding venues!

06. Buffalo Mountain Lodge – Banff

Since the 1980s, Canada Rocky Mountain Resorts has made it their goal to ensure that their mountain lodges embody the beauty and adventure of life in Western Canada. Buffalo Mountain Lodge offers 108 guestrooms, a bridal suite, and three unique indoor venue spaces for weddings. These venues include the Wapiti Longhouse, the Strathcona Room, and the Wainwright Room. If you’re interested in an outdoor ceremony spot, the lodge is situated just above the Tunnel Mountain Reservoir. Lovers who choose to elope at Buffalo Mountain Lodge will have access to a vendor list featuring local businesses from the Banff and Calgary areas.

07. Three Bears Brewery & Restaurant – Banff

Three Bears Brewery & Restaurant offers a unique ceremony and reception experience in a craft brewery located in a national park. Those eloping can choose from four separate event spaces: The Beer Garden & Good Friends Room for 70 guests or less, The Good Friends Room for 12 guests or less, The Gallery for 15-32 guests, and the Main Floor Brewery for 80 standing guests or 40 seated guests. The restaurant features a stargazing retractable roof and in-house catering paired perfectly with the restaurant’s in-house-made beer. 

08. Lupo – Banff

Lupo was ranked 6th in Canada’s 100 Best Top 10 New Restaurants in 2023. The restaurant and venues offer a taste of Italy amidst the beautiful Canadian Rockies in Banff. Lupo’s chef honors traditional Italian craftsmanship, priding themselves in fresh, house-made pasta. Lupo can accommodate up to 120 standing guests, with seating for 80. For more intimate gatherings, Sal’s Room hosts up to 30 guests for a seated dinner or 20 with cocktail space. Little Giorgio’s seats 14 guests, while the Romeo and Juliet Room offers seating for up to 16 and includes a private reception area.

09. Fairmont Chateau – Lake Louise

Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, originally an alpine base over a century ago, is now a luxury year-round resort in Alberta’s Banff National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It offers a diverse range of ceremony and reception spaces, including a Lakeview Terrace and a spacious ballroom. With specialist teams to help plan and execute your dream wedding, the resort is renowned for its environmental stewardship and responsible tourism. Conveniently located near Lake Louise Ski Resort, it is an ideal venue for unforgettable wedding celebrations, including picturesque ski ceremonies.

10. Baker Creek By Basecamp –  Lake Louise

Searching for an authentic mountain experience surrounded by cozy cabins, creeks, and crisp mountain air? Look no further than Baker Creek, an intimate mountain resort offering luxury amenities, private cabins, and suites. Just a short drive from Lake Louise, Baker Creek can host elopements or intimate weddings for up to 20 guests and is proud to offer a ceremony site in a relaxed and celebratory outdoor environment that emphasizes the property’s natural beauty and landscape. 

11. Storm Mountain Lodge – Banff

Storm Mountain Lodge is a charming and historic wedding venue celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2022. Built in 1922 as one of eight Bungalow Camps by the Canadian Pacific Railway to boost Rocky Mountain tourism, the lodge retains its original log structure and rustic charm. Along with a log lodge, the accommodation and venue also feature dog-friendly cabins, offering a unique and intimate setting for elopements or intimate weddings with family, friends, and pets. During wedding receptions, guests can savor delicious Canadian cuisine made from organic ingredients, including Alberta meats, local wild fish, and breads and pastries baked on-site. Additionally, the wine list exclusively features Canadian vintages from British Columbia’s renowned Okanagan Valley.

12. Emerald Lake Lodge – Emerald Lake

Originally built in 1902 by the Canadian Pacific Railway, Emerald Lake Lodge, is now a premier year-round resort and wedding venue in the Canadian Rockies. The lodge combines contemporary comfort with hand-hewn timber and stone, featuring first-class cuisine in its lakeside dining room and a vintage oak bar in the Kicking Horse Lounge. The second floor includes sitting and reading rooms and a games room. With versatile function rooms, the lodge accommodates weddings, from intimate gatherings to events with up to 150 guests. Surrounded by twenty-four cabin-style buildings, it offers eighty-five guest units, each with a fieldstone fireplace, down duvet, and private balcony with mountain views. Cilantro On The Lake serves Rocky Mountain cuisine and a great wine and cocktail menu, perfect for après adventures. The Clubhouse includes a sauna, a twelve-person hot tub overlooking Emerald Lake, and activities like cross-country skiing.

13. The Grizzly Paw Brewing Company – Canmore

The Grizzly Paw Brewing Company, starting as a small Brew Pub on Main St., quickly became a landmark in Alberta’s craft beer movement. Known for its excellent beverages, hospitality, and commitment to environmental stewardship, the brewery uses eco-friendly materials and sustainably sourced lumber. Innovative heating practices recycle heat from the brewing process to warm the facility. Environmental initiatives include a partnership with Bullfrog Power, the installation of over 150 solar panels, and waste diversion programs that compost 100% of spent grain and reduce overall waste by 94%. The brewery is dedicated to sustainability, reflecting this in all aspects of its operations.

14. Silvertip Resort – Canmore

With breathtaking views of the Canadian Rockies, Silvertip Resort embraces its property’s surrounding natural beauty. Lovers can say I do in Spring or Summer at The Gazebo, or in Autumn or Winter at the Three Sisters Patio. For indoor celebrations, The Pavillion and Sinclair Room offer cozy and warm opportunities to celebrate. The venue’s cuisine is inspired by nature, curated and crafted by chefs using fresh and regional ingredients. With breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and handcrafted interior touches made of locally sourced materials such as douglas fir timber and rundle stone. 

15. Kananaskis Country

Made up of 4,200+ square kilometers of mixed-use land, Kananaskis County is home to parks, protected areas, and public lands. There are five Provincial Parks in Kananaskis, including Spray Valley Provincial Park, Bow Valley Provincial Park, Canmore Nordic Centre Provincial Park, Peter Lougheed Provincial Park and Sheep River Provincial Park. Additionally, Kananaskis is home to a wide variety of unique places and activities, such as Grassi Lakes, Upper and Lower Kananaskis Lake, Ha Ling Peak, Kananaskis Nordic Spa, and much more. Kananaskis Country is full of some of the best outdoor, sustainable Alberta wedding venues for nature lovers!

16. Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge – Kananaskis

Nestled within the breathtaking landscapes of Kananaskis, the Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge presents a haven for both relaxation and celebration. With its 21 versatile event rooms, ranging from intimate settings for four to grand spaces accommodating up to 400 guests, the lodge caters to a diverse array of gatherings. Situated close to Ghost Lake Campground and numerous charming Airbnbs, Roots and Roses offers an off-the-grid and pet-friendly outdoor venue in the woods. From intimate gatherings of 40 guests to customizable wedding package options that include a bridal suite cabin, there’s something for every wedding dream at Roots And Roses.

19. The Lake House – Calgary

Celebrate your wedding lakeside at The Lake House in Calgary, an award-winning restaurant and wedding venue on Lake Bonavista! Featuring elk chandeliers, a grand stone fireplace, and a refurbished 21-foot bar from the 1800s, The Lake House offers lovers and their guests a warm wedding environment that honors Alberta’s rich history and culture.
