When Virginia and Derek were looking for their Iceland elopement photographer, they were looking for good vibes, stunning landscape options, help with planning and an overall silly day together. After getting crystal clear on everything they loved during the planning process, Liz (planner extraordinaire) sent over options to choose from.

A summer Iceland elopement with Virginia and Derek

When couples choose us to be their Iceland elopement photographer and videographer, it is a huge honour that we take very seriously, but when we show up on the day, it’s all about hanging out and having the best day ever!

How Their Day Unfolded during their Iceland Elopement

After hiking through the Iceland forest in the Golden Circle area, we began their day with a first look. Virginia and Derek stayed separate on the trail, Virginia hiking with Liz and Derek hiking with Jason. Jason set Derek up in the first look spot in front of an epic mountain where he then closed his eyes and waited for Virginia. She walked up behind him, tapped him on the shoulder and they had their romantic moment, seeing each other in their outfits, kissing and spinning around.

We then walked deeper into the forest and had fun taking portraits among the epic trees. We then arrived at a gorgeous bright blue waterfall for their private ceremony. Only a couple people passed us on the trail, it was perfectly private, just how they wanted! After having a symbolic ceremony where they said their vows and exchanged rings, they completed their ceremony with a kiss. We then took some fun portraits and video moments around the waterfall before heading to the next location.

Virginia and Derek wanted mountain views, a waterfall, forest vibes and an epic Icelandic canyon view. So we arrived at the canyon for their first dance and they enjoyed a picnic full of charcuterie snacks and smoothies from Froosh. They explored around the canyon before we left for their final location, an Icelandic hot spring. They are total water babies and after all that adventuring they wanted to chill out in a geothermal hot spring during blue hour and look at the stars.

Elopement Details We’re Obsessed With

We absolutely loved Virginia and Derek’s goth inspired look. Her bridal gown was black with a white collar, a thrifted waitress style look. He wore black with a bright pink, sugar scull tie that popped perfectly with their look. Thordisz is an incredible florist that created a stunning bouquet that totally vibed with the couple’s vision. It all came together so beautifully!
