A Winter Lake Louise Mountain Elopement in Banff

When Kirby and Jonathan reached out about their Lake Louise Mountain elopement in Banff, we knew we were in for something wild, stunning, and unforgettable.

Choosing To Elope In Lake Louise?

As a laid back couple, they wanted a mountain ceremony that reflected stunning beauty but was also accessible and intimate. Eloping at Lake Louise allowed an easeful vibe while building an experience with all their favourite things. They enjoyed the luxury of the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise’s new Basin Glacier Waters Spa that is deep in the Canadian Rockies overlooking the blue alpine waters of the Lake the day before their wedding.

They woke up refreshed and ready for sunrise, we began with their first look before the sun peaked over the mountains. After a few portraits, we then began their ceremony as the sun began to rise above the mountain peak, highlighting the gorgeous alpine glow. We recommended sunrise and late October for their elopement so they could avoid the crowds which was the perfect choice for them. They said their vows as the sun rose and enjoyed an intimate experience without the big Banff crowds.

Kirby & Jonathan’s Elopement Story

Kirby & Jonathan met at a tournament playing a Trading Card Game about Disney Characters called Lorcana. Jonathan was immediately impressed by Kirby’s custom playmat, deckbox and bags. After playing game after game, their connection grew through belly laughter and jokes. Kirby told her friend after the tournament ‘I think I just met someone important’, her inner knowing was letting her know she just met her person, and the rest was history!

Their Proposal Story

Jonathan asked Kirby if she would go on a surprise trip with him. She had no idea where they were going! She agreed. He told her that we would be in a city and sent her a forecast of the weather and that was all she had to go on. On the day of the trip, they walked out of the house to find a stretch limo and a shelf with three book boxes.

The boxes looked like books. The first book he handed her said, ‘Will you go to Paris with me?’ and inside it had plane tickets and an international power card. The second book said, ‘Will you always dance with me?’ and had a magnetic sound box with a picture of them that played a song they dance to in the kitchen. The last box just said “Will you…” and had a hand made walnut ring box with their initials inlayed with white maple.

Kirby screamed yes and hugged Jonathan in excitement! Then, they got in the limo and spent a week in Paris together as a newly engaged couple. Of course, as avid Disney fans they also adventured to Disneyland Paris.

How Their Day Unfolded

They wanted to elope in Banff. After deep diving during the planning process about what they love to do together, we had a plan. They started the day with their first look, followed by a sunrise ceremony at Lake Louise. Followed by a relaxed bonfire while they exchanged gifts. Kirby’s bestie reached out to us to arrange some surprises to sprinkle through their day. One of them was arranging mimosas to enjoy during their bonfire. Before exchanging gifts, they received surprise mimosa’s! It was such a lovely way for their friend to celebrate them from afar right after they said their ‘i do’s’.

We then headed inside the Chateau for a lovely brunch spread at the Fairview Bar & Restaurant. They enjoyed pancakes, fruit, pastries, eggs and more while looking at the mountain views. Once brunch finished, they played the game that brought them together, Lorcana. They laughed and enjoyed their time together before taking a much needed nap in their hotel room. They enjoyed a break mid day to chill and relax before we met up with them again at Bow Lake for a charcuterie picnic, more couple’s portraits and their first dance.

What Kirby & Jonathan Say About Their Banff Elopement Experience

“Liz and Jason were absolutely amazing! When We initially engaged their services, I thought we were hiring a photographer. Little did I know, we were hiring the most important person at our wedding, besides my bride and myself. They helped arrange things that I hadn’t even thought of and had step-by-step processes on how to do things that we needed to get done that would’ve taken me hours and hours to figure out on my own. If you are eloping, you need to hire The Organic Moment! Our wedding was perfect for us, because Liz and Jason made sure it was exactly what we wanted every step of the way! I can’t imagine having done this without them! To say that it was worth every dollar is a dramatic understatement.” – Kirby & Jonathan

Elopement Details We’re Obsessed With

Kirby’s sparkly, gold and cream dress with hints of pink was stunning against the mountain backdrop. We absolutely love outfits that break out of the typical wedding mold, plus it’s fun! She also made her own bridal bouquet and wore the coolest white and gold winter boots. They had custom Lorcana cards made with their smiling faces on them, which sealed the deal on creativity and personalization.
