Snæfellsnes Peninsula Elopement
Kristen and Adam desired to have an intimate Snæfellsnes Peninsula elopement in Iceland during the shoulder season. They wanted to avoid the crowds and travel around Iceland to see the various types of landscapes. They knew they wanted to say their ‘I do’s’ at the stunning Kirkjufell mountain. We started the planning process with the iconic Game of Thrones location in mind. With all of that in mind, I recommended staying on the peninsula and taking in all it has to offer. The Snæfellsnes Peninsula is like a mini Iceland. From black sand beaches to gorges, basalt columns, waterfalls and epic views, it was the perfect place for what they were looking for!
Kirkjufell Mountain Elopement
Kristen & Adam began their day at their Airbnb on the coast, overlooking the ocean for their Snæfellsnes Peninsula Elopement. We met up at Kirkjufell mountain for their intimate waterfall ceremony. Kirkjufell is super popular all year round and one of the most photographed mountains in Iceland. So, we recommended a tiny, quaint waterfall nearby to avoid the crowds. It was so beautiful and special!! It was just the 5 of us, Kristen, Adam, the Officiant Theodóra from Legal Iceland, Jason and I.
They got married in October which is when the weather starts to get stormy and chilly in Iceland, so we had a little car warm up break with cinnamon buns and coffee after their ceremony. We then went to the iconic Kirkjufell for portraits before travelling to the nearby town of Grundarfjörður. There we had a bite to eat, laughing together and enjoying each others company. They then enjoyed classic Icelandic ice cream cones before we headed to their Airbnb. Once we arrived at their Airbnb, they exchanged gifts and celebrated with delicious champagne. We concluded the evening with epic outdoor images of them with the Northern Lights. What more could you want for your elopement day!!? How epic is this Snæfellsnes Peninsula Elopement ammiright?!
How Kristen & Adam Met
We tend to think about life before we met as life after we met, but before we “came around” to find one another. 🙂 We started working together around 8 years ago, and both were in separate long-term relationships. We quickly became trusted colleagues because we often were working on the same projects given our shared research skill sets, and it was always very easy to enjoy each other’s company!
The Proposal Story
We had gotten home after a rainy, chilly evening being out seeing our musician friend perform in an ensemble at an art studio. We had just changed into comfy clothes/pajamas, and were were sitting on radiator in our bedroom chatting about all the different house projects we’d tackled over the past 5 or so months. Adam started rummaging around in his top dresser drawer (he’d had the ring for a bit). Kristen was uncertain about what was happening, and then Adam proposed and Kristen said yes! It was lovely and simple, and just very sweet.
