Laura and Chad's had an epic Arrowhead Provincial Park elopement at Stubb's Falls near Huntsville in the Muskoka's Ontario. It was a gorgeous fall day in October. Their love was inspirational to photograph. They ended the day with hand rolled cannabis joints to celebrate their incredible experience!

A Romantic and Scenic Destination

This charming town nestled in the heart of the Muskoka region is the perfect place to exchange your vows and build incredible memories together. Here are 10 reasons why you should elope in Huntsville, Ontario:

Huntsville is home to some of the most stunning campsites in Ontario, with ample opportunities for hiking, boating, and wildlife watching. If you and your partner love the great outdoors, Huntsville is the perfect place to celebrate your love amidst nature’s beauty. There are two incredible Provincial Parks nearby (check them out below) as well as Limberlost Forest & Wildlife Reserve. They are a wilderness haven with twenty private lakes and more than 10,000 unspoiled acres of mixed forest. You can hike and bike around at no charge! Most importantly they practice Conscientious Forest Management which focuses on ensuring sustainability. You can even book accommodations on site through one of my favourite accommodations, Cabinscape! These cozy and eco-friendly cabins are nestled in the heart of nature and offer all the comforts of home, making them the perfect place to relax and unwind after your elopement.

#2 Year-round destination and epic lookouts!

Huntsville is a year-round destination, offering something for everyone no matter what season you choose to elope in. From colourful fall foliage to snowy winter wonderlands, the beauty of Huntsville is always on display. One of my favourite views is from Lion’s lookout. It requires no effort and is incredibly stunning. Grab a coffee and a beavertail and head on up to a short but steep drive to the top of a large hill  above downtown to enjoy the view.

#3 Intimate setting and great breweries!

Huntsville is a small town, making it the perfect destination for an intimate elopement. You can escape the crowds and enjoy a private ceremony surrounded by nature. I love a great brewery and there’s four to choose from in the area, there’s Canvas Brewing Company, Huntsville Brewhouse, Lake of Bays Brewing and Muskoka Brewery. You can grab beers to go and enjoy  them while watching the falls or end your elopement day at the brewhouse for beers  and great food downtown. My husband Jason and I love the epic nachos and creamy mac and cheese at the Mill on Main which has an awesome rooftop patio and is right across the street from the Huntsville Brewhouse.

The historic town is super quaint with amazing local shops to check out. Walking around downtown Huntsville is so endearing, make sure to keep an eye out for the famous Canadian Group of Seven paintings as you stroll along. I love how many  local shops there are to enjoy. There’s the local  candy and chocolate shop for all the classic nostalgia you desire, it’s so friggin cute in The Nutty Chocolatier. P.S. they have ring pops! If you want to check out a funky crystal shop there’s the The Topiary. If you’re a record buff like me there’s The Record Shoppe which sells new and used records. And lastly there’s the Sustain Ecostore where you can grab a turmeric  latte with nut milk, stock up on refillable items if needed and there’s plenty of zero  waste sustainable products to shop for too!

You even find friendly folks on the trails and parks like Arrowhead. Arrowhead Provincial Park is on my top 5 places to elope in Ontario. Stubb’s Falls is one of my favourite waterfalls to spend the day at. You can check out my Stubb’s elopement here. You can sit right on the rocks beside the falls during autumn when the leaves are changing and  enjoy a picnic. You can hike, swim and canoe there. Arrowhead lake is one of the four beaches at Arrowhead, it’s moderately sized which means it’s warm to swim in early fall  and summer and it’s motorboat free making it a very quiet and relaxing lake to visit if  you do it at the right time of year! Hot tip: elope during the week to avoid the crowds!

#10 Accessibility: Algonquin is only 30 min away!

Huntsville is conveniently located just a few hours’ drive from major cities like Toronto and Ottawa. You can easily plan your elopement without having to travel too far from home. Plus you can enjoy a day or overnight trip to Algonquin Provincial Park (only 30 minutes away) it’s easy and awesome! Algonquin Park is also one of my top 5 places to elope in Ontario. The lookouts are incredibly stunning and depending on when and where you go you’ll be the only one’s around! It’s a massive Park, the one hour drive through the park passes through conifer and hardwood trees and in September and early October it’s one of Canada’s most spectacular road trips. There are tons of lakes and trails to explore and if you’re lucky you’ll spot a Moose on your visit!
